Conclusion
Seriously, all these stories are true.
I have worked for over twenty-five companies of various industries between 1996 and 2009. Although many of
the companies had nothing in common with each other on the surface, most of them could be summarized
by one word: inefficient. I left a lot of jobs because they were either inefficient operations or I just didn't
like the company.
I wrote about my journey through fragile companies to expose the business inefficiencies I observed so that it may
help people think more about efficiency. Since I don't wish to hammer
these companies by name, I will label each company with a letter of the alphabet, starting with Company A
and culminating with Company Z. Several of the companies are no longer in business due to their inefficient
operations thanks to poor decision-making.
My concept of business is divided into 1) resources, 2) organization and 3) communication. Just about
everything having to do with business fits into these three categories.
No matter how you view the way a business is put together, it is either working or
it's not. Since the goal of business is to make a profit, it's very important for business not to waste
too much time or money. At the same time a company must invest in itself, not just with time and money,
but with quality people. Good companies care, bad ones don't.
My mixed journey began after leaving
my comfortable long-term job at COMPANY A.
