What did you think of the President's State of the Union Address? (2/1/06)

respondent quote
CANDY: I thought it was his best speech ever...but I was annoyed when the Democrats started applauding after he blamed them for not getting his social security bill through. It has forever been preserved as an embarrassing moment in State of the Union history.
MR. BIG BIZ: It was a superb speech. I think you'll see another bump up in the next approval ratings. If not, one of my holding companies will just start buying up media outlets - and then eventually you will see a bump in his approval ratings.
JENNIFER: I think it was laughable and annoying at the same time. He talked about how America is addicted to oil - when he's the one that's keeping oil the status quo with all his oil buddies in the Middle East. He wants to convert to all these alternative energy sources by the year 2025 and we're supposed to be excited about that? It's not like global warming is giving us two decades to think about it. How about by the end of this year we completely go alternative energy?
SKULL MADISON: I found it to be an odd mix of classic Bush on one hand and the new confusing Bush on the other. I think overall he closed the deal on dictatorship. It's done. He's our guy so let's roll with it. I was just slightly thrown by his sudden shift to alternative energy - talking about ethanol and pollution-free cars. Hey, make no mistake, Bush is my hero, but make no bigger mistake, the game is oil. It gives countries something to fight over.
COLLEGE STUDENT: I found it to be more babble than message, even though I was shocked that they actually wrote the words "solar" and "wind" into his script. Maybe someone turned him on to the song "The Sun and Wind". It sounded like he was finally trying to kiss the left's ass with a new alternative energy program. It's just another distraction designed to get liberals talking about Bush's ideas versus Bush's scandals.
WOMEN'S RIGHTS ACTIVIST: The only historical note about that event was that it put Cindy Sheehan in the spotlight. She got arrested for wearing an anti-war T-shirt at the Capitol before the speech. After she threatened legal action for violation of her Constitutional rights, they suddenly dropped the charge and apologized. Don't be surprised if she runs for U.S. Senate and wins.
SCIENTIST: The President must have read my prediction for 2006. Now he's completely behind solar and wind energy as we fast-forward into a new era - a new way of life. It sounds as though the President has finally been educated on math and science, because for the first time ever I heard him talk about math and science in the same sentence. In the past I've heard him talk about his own math, but not any kind of math used in science.
