Do you have an iPod yet and are you aware of podcasting? (5/24/05)

respondent quote
COOL LEE: No, I don't have an iPod yet because I'm waiting for the price to come down to $25. I don't really like new technology anyway. I'm still stuck in the television age. I don't even have cable. I'm just as happy with the basic channels I pick up from my rabbit ears. I don't need a lot of toys to be happy. Just give me the three networks and I'm happy. TV is TV. It's all about shutting down your mind. I'm not ready for an iPod yet because it involves making choices for myself.
DJ YOYO JO-Z: Damn straight. I use iPods when I do gigs dat don't require beatmixing, otherwise I stick wit turntables. But then see I mostly use my iPod to listen to my own remixes. Yeah I'm a podcasta. Dat's how da word is gettin' out dat my show is da word. Man, pretty soon I'm gonna be so big there ain't gonna be an iPod big enough to hold all da mp3s of da otha podcastaz talkin' bout my show.
JENNIFER: Yeah, I wear an iPod Shuffle around my neck when I go jogging. It's really cool how you can just push a button and it completely changes the order of the songs. That's what I hate about radio so much is that they play the exact same songs in the exact same order all the time. The iPod shuffle also lets me store a hundred songs, so once again that's better than the same ten songs I hear on the radio over and over and over again. I feel like calling up the stations and asking 'you wanna borrow my iPod?'
SKULL MADISON: No, I do not bother myself with modern gadgetry that distracts from the big picture of PNAC. I appreciate the idea of another way government can transmit information to the public - but I don't think the public should be allowed to have the power to podcast as they call it. I'm getting very impatient with all this new technology that allows anyone to communicate to the world. Geez, I haven't been this ticked off since the invention of the telephone.
COLLEGE STUDENT: I love the iPod and lately I've been totally into podcasting. Now they have a radio station in the Bay Area called You Radio that plays podcasts from the public. It's a really cool sounding station. I've heard a lot of underground bands on there. They call it open source radio. I was blown away when I first heard it. It's got all these podcasters just speaking their mind. It's almost like a mix of Air America and a pirate radio station. It's one of the few stations on the dial that doesn't sound like it's being run by the neo-cons.
MADAM OF THE PLANETS: Yes, I love my iPod because it somewhat resembles the miniature spacecraft that landed on my roof one day. The aliens who came out and spoke to me were extremely friendly...but they didn't leave any contact information. That was before the hi tech revolution. Now I'm thinking maybe I can track them down or maybe they can even track me down - through podcasting.
GOOFBALL GREG: I'm a dude that used to download thousands of songs off Napster for free before they went legal and started charging for songs. I don't wanna pay money to listen to music, especially since it's all a bunch of crap. If they let me listen for free I might give it a chance, but I'm not throwing money away on music. I get sick of when artists cry how they're getting ripped off. Man, it should be a hobby and they should put it out there to be heard and feel lucky if they are. Man, if they wanna make money they should get a real job and do some work.
SCIENTIST: The iPod is brilliant and yes I do have one. But I've come up with my own invention that rivals the iPod that I shall be unleashing on the market in the coming months. It's basically a solar-powered voice-activated remote control that you hold in your hand that does everything. It receives and transmits wireless digital information. It's a cell phone, voice mail, email, spell checker, calculator, mp3 player, satellite, AM/FM and shortwave radio receiver, pager, digital camera, guitar/piano tuner, flashlight, calendar, keychain, compass, thermometer, a digital storage device and TV/VCR/DVD/stereo/video game remote all in one.
