UNKNOWN SKEPTIC: I've heard estimates that it should climb to $100 a barrel in the next
few years. That actually sounds low to me. I would have guessed double that amount, being that we are now entering the peak oil production era. OPEC can only keep prices down so long. The Alaska pipeline is a non-issue. Our only reasonable course of action is to pursue alternative energy sources. I thought this was common knowledge ten years ago, but I guess I'm forgetting to account for the dumbing of America. |

COOL LEE: I don't pay attention to gas prices. Whatever the price is, that's what I pay and I don't worry about it. Everyone has to drive, so it's kind of a no-brainer to just not worry about it. I assumed everyone thought that way, but I may be more of a progressive thinker than most people. |
JENNIFER: I don't even drive a car anymore. I'm boycotting oil as much as I can. Our local utilities company still uses petroleum to power its plant, but soon I'll be moving in with a friend who has solar panels.
So I guess you can say I'm doing my part to not help finance Bush's war for oil program. I just wish there weren't so many fools who have a problem figuring this out. |
LEFT GUARD LARRY: I haven't noticed gas prices cuz I lost my license for 18 months.
But I'll tell you one thing. When I start drivin' again, I ain't gonna pay no hundred dollars a gallon. I thought I heard them say that on the news. That just don't sound right. I don't even think it's right to charge one dollar a gallon.
Gas should be free cuz it's a natural resource. |
BROKER BOB: I say oil prices stay in line with Wall Street analyst estimates. That would be about $100 a barrel in the long term. My own view on the short term would be steadily increasing prices, probably topping
out around $75 a barrel depending on how the bidding goes at the New York Mercantile Exchange. You almost wanna say oil stocks are a sure bet, but then again I thought the same thing about Enron.

WORKER JOE: Man, I pay more money to fill up my tank to get to my job than I even make from my job. It sucks, man. It's all cuz of that son of a Bush raisin' gas prices. I know how it works. It's like the only way he knows how to get off is to crush people like me who are obviously never gonna make more than minimum wage. |
COLLEGE STUDENT: I can see gas prices getting up to four bucks a gallon. That's what it's been in Europe but people just figured out how to economize. I'm not sure, though, that most Americans are prepared to make the adjustment. See, through social conditioning they've convinced most people that you can't live without a car. But I beat the system every day by riding my bicycle. I'm actually gaining energy by doing so. But I don't expect most people to catch up with my thinking. |
REAGAN DEMOCRAT: Sometimes I reflect back on the Reagan administration, back when gas was under a buck a gallon, and I just wish that we could turn the clock back to those times. Not only did Reagan defeat the Soviets in the Cold War, he did away with Carter's stupid alternative energy program that was going to reduce dependence on foreign oil. The record has shown that Mr. Carter ended up on the wrong side of history. Because we decided to go all out with petroleum, let's stay the course. I'll pay the higher prices because I know that helps keep oil the status quo. |
GOOFBALL GREG: I can't believe America let Clinton get away with this. See, what's happening is Clinton ignored the terrorists, allowing them to take over Iraq, where all the oil is. I can't believe people
didn't just re-elect Bush's dad when we had the chance. That turned out to be a fatal turning point in history and now gas prices will probably never come down thanks to Clinton and the liberal obstructionists who won't let Bush drill off the coast of California. |
SKULL MADISON: Listen to me good, because I seem to be the only one on this panel who even has a clue about the oil industry. It's about using up resources, stupid, to purposely deplete them. See, once oil is depleted and we have sucked all the middle class jobs out of the system, then we can begin to focus on a society dependent on its government, which in turn is dependent on the elite. To hell with cars for the common people. I say only let military, law enforcement and VIPs operate such machinery. Let the peasants have their guns so they can still shoot each other, but let's start to take away everything else. |
