respondent quote
UNKNOWN SKEPTIC: Oh, it was stupid as usual. Don't get me started. I may have caught the ending while I was channel surfing and they were trying to explain how the voting was done. It made me talk back to my television and say, "Don't waste your time, lady, no one really cares."
CANDY: That was the best Oscars I've ever scene. I was hypnotized. I couldn't change the channel. They all come off so fake and contrived, and that's what I'm all about.
COOL LEE: I liked the classical piece. I think they said the artist's name was Yo Yo Ma. I don't know much about classical music, I just listen to top 40, but because they showed cartoons for a second on the screen, I was really into it. Pardon me for being so ignorant on the topic.
JENNIFER: Well I only tuned in to check out who would win best theme song, and I guess Prince talked about Shrek 2 but the award went to some other movie I never heard of and the guy actually sang the theme song instead of giving a long boring speech. The reason they've changed it now to short boring speeches probably so that they can fit in more commercials.
SKULL MADISON: I don't watch shows like that because I think the only things on television that have any credibility would be either actual news coverage on Bush or war films. I get a hoot out of war programming! This leak to the media of some crafted recorded conversation between Bush and a writer in 1998 - is an attempt by liberals to pull Bush into a scandal with his own party. They also want to divert the attention from war, so that the main topic will be drugs. Sorry liberals, like it or not, the agenda isn't drugs, it's war.
COLLEGE STUDENT: No way, man. I don't watch shows about industries patting themselves on the back bragging about how they know how to pick their own movies. I hate most movies I see. But I did like the Michael Moore fim Fahrenheit 911. I agree that worst actor should go to Bush. At one point I may have watched television every night but lately I've been listening to music on my iPod.
GUSTY: I realize it's all scripted and it's supposed to be fast-paced to create the illusion that it's not boring, but I find myself getting easily pulled into media spectacles. I like watching the clips because it's the only time I ever see anything from movies. I figure even the worst movies have at least one good scene worth seeing, and that by showing the best clips is like seeing a gazillion good movies all in one night.
MOVIE BUFF: I watched the whole thing until the end when Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand gave the award to the best picture. I loved the Arnold reference that "it's better to win." It's weird. I saw a ton of movies this year and I could have sworn one of them would be at least nominated. I didn't recognize any of them. I guess some film involving Clint Eastwood won. It just kind of zoomed by and I didn't catch the name of the film. Boy, do I feel stupid. And I thought I was a movie expert. I must have seen a bunch of bogus films. Now I have to rush and see everything I was supposed to see but missed because I'm a bogus movie fan.
