TANGENT SUNSET

What do you think about Harriet Miers' withdrawal as a Supreme Court nominee? (10/27/05)

respondent quote
GW BULLSH: I reluctantly accept her decision to withdraw. I would like to take this opportunity, however, to confirm, that I support a conservative judge, just in case there was any doubt in anyone's minds. I do understand her concern about the confirmation process. I think it needs to be quicker, more secretive and without opposition.
UNKNOWN SKEPTIC: I'm glad to see the unqualified lady call her own bluff before Congress did. She does not have judicial experience. Next thing you know there'll be Hollywood actors trying out for the job.
COOL LEE: It actually makes no difference to me. Since I don't plan on being involved in any Supreme Court cases in my lifetime, I'll just leave it up to the President.
MR. BIG BIZ: I would have supported her, but I suppose it's on to the next nominee. I will support anyone who protects a corporation's right to pollute the environment, as long as it can turn a profit.
SKULL MADISON: I'm concerned that the President is looking a little vulnerable to the American people right now. To have a major nominee pull out due to controversy isn't good. It creates a distraction. What we need is a clear-cut fascist as a judge, and if the process starts to drag, we need to manipulate the process.
COLLEGE STUDENT: I like the way she says she's withdrawing because the confirmation process meant revealing White House documents. That's funny, because if you're trying to be part of a secret government, no one expects you to actually admit it like she did in her letter to the President.
