TANGENT SUNSET

COMMON CREEPS by Alex Cosper

Do you think the Iraqi election was a success? (1/31/05)

respondent quote
GW BULLSH: Yes, very much so. Democracy has finally been delivered to Iraq and we can feel good that this whole quagmire that we created was worth it.
RECEPTIONIST: I don't really follow the news. I didn't know Iraq had elections. I thought they were just some terrorist nation that didn't allow elections.
UNKNOWN SKEPTIC: It's already proving to be a big failure. It's going to take them ten days to count the votes. Why? So they can make sure it comes out the way Bush wants it to? Look, we can't even get our own elections straight. Elections have become futile exercises to make people think they have a choice, when in fact, it's all pre-determined according by something called the New World Order.
BROKER BOB: I think if we just look beyond the suicide bombings during the voting yesterday, the election helped contribute to a booming market today. I see democracy in Iraq as a positive. Should help silence the critics who can't figure out what we're doing there. As soon as we get full control of Iraq, then we can celebrate their new-found democracy.
SKULL MADISON: I'll tell ya what. I've never seen a President get this much work done in such a short time. With the Iraqi election being pulled off without a glitch, the stature of George W. Bush has now been elevated to World Leader in such a manner, that we don't have to have a world election to promote global democracy. I think it's now widely understood that Bush controls global policy from here on out. Shall we celebrate with drink?
BOUNCER MIKE: Hey, Bush is doing such a great job as President, that whoever he picks as the next Iraqi puppet leader is fine with me.
JFK HISTORIAN: I agree with Senator Ted Kennedy that it's time to bring the troops home. This whole thing was based on lies in the first place, and the situation isn't getting any better. Over 40 people were killed by suicide bombers during the election. Let's not repeat the same mistakes we did in Vietnam. We're not going to be able to dictate. If we stay much longer we will drain our resources and fall like the Soviet Union, who couldn't even defeat Afghanistan. Come on people, let's not let history repeat itself.
MADAM OF THE PLANETS: I see the Iraq election as an attempt to steer consciousness away from the bigger, more universal issue, which is to negotiate with extra terrestrial leaders as to how we should construct a universal government that pertains to all planets and forms of life throughout the galaxies.
GOOFBALL GREG: Looks like we won the Iraq war again - I think for the third time. First we toppled Hussein, then we captured his ass, now we're taking over. Wow, this is better than a video game with extended play. Oh, wait. I think we handed over sovereignty to Iraq last June, so I guess that makes it four times now we've won the war.
