TANGENT SUNSET

COMMON CREEPS by Alex Cosper

Were you inspired by any speeches at the Republican convention? (9/3/04)

respondent quote
COOL LEE: I didn't even watch the convention because I figure whoever they nominate, they'll nominate.
MR. BIG BIZ: I thought they were all great speeches, especially Arnold's. We need to get that law changed so he can run for President in four years.
JENNIFER: It was gloomy. They all act like they're doing something right, like they're not the biggest disaster in our history.
BROKER BOB: I liked Rudy's speech. He'll probably be the next President to succeed Bush in four years.
SKULL MADISON: I liked Bush's speech the most. He still hasn't come out using the words "New World Order" but he has done a superb job painting the concept with Orwellian metaphors.
COLLEGE STUDENT: I don't know if they'd all studied mind control or if they really think they're doing a good job.
COUNSELOR JENNINGS: It wasn't a good idea for Bush to take cheap shots at Kerry like that. I think he'll look back on that speech as the turning point in this campaign. You'll see Kerry's numbers start to surge in about a month, no matter what happens in the next few weeks.
REAGAN DEMOCRAT: I kept waiting for Bush to stumble but he delivered the speech smoothly. He's actually starting to become an articulate president, which is why I'm leaning toward him.
GOOFBALL GREG: I liked the Bush daughters. They're the future of this country, you know. I've already projected it out. Jeb Bush will be President for eight years then probably some unknown Bush for eight years and then the Bush daughters for sixteen years.
